Bob Beck Trusted Advisor - Bob Beck Trusted AdvisorLearn How To Become A Trusted Advisor by Bob Beck

Many people ask me how did I get where I am today, how did you ever become a trusted advisor, I have a simple answer for them. I tell them the truth: every single one of my accomplishments comes from understanding and applying the secret of football.

There is so much you can learn and become a trusted advisor, just by understanding the game of football.

You can choose success. Anyone can. And once you understand and tune in to the inner game, football prepares you for choosing success. This is true whether you are a coach, player, parent of a player; dedicated fan, Sunday afternoon couch potato or someone who has never watched a game in his or her life.

Making the right choices begins early. In fact, the process starts before you’re really able to make informed choices at all.

Change is an absolute necessity. As with the rest of life, I knew that if something isn’t working, you change it. Arnold Schwarzenegger may say, “No pain, no gain.” I prefer to say, “No change, no gain.

As A Trusted Advisor You Make Change

As a trusted advisor "in order to achieve change, you have to make changes."

Many people who want to change their fortunes are unwilling to make the changes necessary to bring that about. Some lack the necessary courage. Others simply don’t know how.
All of the hard work and dedication you put into your sport or your career won’t add up to much if you’re playing the wrong position. If you weigh a hundred and eighty pounds, you’re not going to make it as a defensive tackle; if you weigh two-eighty, forget about trying out for tailback.

  • Life is about making choices, and that usually means making changes.
  • Once you choose to succeed, you must also choose where to succeed.

So, I want you to ask yourself a question right now:

  • Am I doing what I should be doing?
If the answer is no, acknowledge that.

Then ask yourself:
  • What’s stopping me from reaching my full potential?
  • Am I working with the wrong coach, taking bad advice?
  • Am I on the wrong team?
  • Or is it that I haven’t yet found what I want to commit myself to with a single-minded purpose?
  • Have I avoided chasing my dream, either out of a perceived lack of opportunity or a fear of failure?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, ask yourself:

  • What can I do to change?
This is another way of saying: how well can I prepare myself to succeed in life, doing what I want to do? Once you make that decision and act on it, you’ll ignite your self-esteem—a powerful element indeed!
